Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Recruitment for the post of Assistant Commandant is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam is conducted annually at the national level, and the examination is held under the name of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) recruitment exam.

The UPSC CAPF recruitment for Assistant Commandants for Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is a lengthy procedure, and it takes around a year for the entire recruitment to be complete. SSB Exam Pattern

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and the Medical Standards Test are equally important parts of the recruitment process. Any candidate aspiring to qualify the CAPF exam needs to qualify for these two phases of the exam as well.

Limited Departmental Competetive Exam:

Apart from aspirants across the country, the currently serving employees can also apply for the post of Assistant Commandant in SSB through the LDC exam. The exam is conducted for internal recruitment in the organization.

CAPF released the notification for the LDC exam in the year 2022-23, but the exam was scheduled on the 31st July 2022. A notification for the position of Assistant Commandant was released by the Indian government. In total, 61 positions were made available for recruitment as part of the SSB Assistant Commandant Recruitment 2022. The application form were accepted by May 30, 2022, at the latest.

The eligibility criteria for the exam is as follows:

  1. Candidate must not be more than 35 years of age. Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates.
  2. The candidate must be a graduate from any Government recognised University.
  3. Only three attempts per candidate are allowed.
  4. Candidate must have served the organization for a minimum of 4 years.
  5. The physical and medical standards are the same as the direct recruitment procedure.

SSB Eligibility Criteria

Union Public Service Commission mentions a list of eligibility criteria that a candidate needs to satisfy to apply for the post of CAPF Assistant Commandant. The below-given eligibility criteria are mentioned in the official notification of UPSC CAPF 2019:

  1. Age Limit: Candidate must be between 20 years and 25 years of age. There is an age relaxation of up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates and age relaxation of up to 3 years for OBC candidates.
  2. Educational Qualifications: Candidate must be a graduate from any Government University or Deemed to be University.
  3. Sex: Both male and female candidate can apply
  4. Nationality: Candidate should be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan.

The candidate also needs to fulfil the physical and medical eligibility standards to apply for the post of Assistant Commandant. The physical standards required for CAPF exam are as follows:

  1. EyeSight: 6/6 or 6/9 for better vision and 6/9 and 6/12 fir worse vision.

  4. Tattoo Clause: Candidate must not have any symbols on the saluting forearm. Only religious tattoos are allowed
  5. Chronic Disease: Candidate must not have any chronic skin disease or any venereal disease.
