CBT – The candidates who successfully register for Stenographer exam are called to appear for the first stage of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D. The CBT is an online examination comprising three sections, General Awareness, English Language & Comprehension and General Intelligence & Reasoning. The total marks for the computer-based test are 200.

- Candidates have to complete the CBT exam in 2 hours
- One mark is awarded for each right answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
Skill Test – All those candidates who clear the computer-based exam have to appear for the skill test in stenography. The skill test is basically conducted to test the speed of candidates.Â
In this stage, candidates are given a dictation in English or Hindi for 10 minutes. Candidates aiming to qualify in this test, are required to type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for Stenographer Grade C post and 80 words per minute for Grade D post.
