SSC CHSL Exam Subjects 2023

SSC CHSL 2023 Tier-1 exam was held from 9th to 21st March 2023. The results of the Tier-1 examination are expected to be announced in April/May 2023. As per the tentative calendar released by SSC, the CHSL Tier-2 2023 examination is scheduled to be held on 26th June 2023.

SSC CHSL examination is conducted in 3 phases, namely:

Tier-1 Objective type paper containing Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Tier-2 Descriptive Paper (English/Hindi)

Tier-3 Skill Test or Typing Test

Scheme of the Examination

SSC CHSL Tier-1 Subjects and Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Tier-1 examination is a computer-based objective type examination. It contains multiple choice questions in both English and Hindi for Part 2, 3 and 4 of the examination. Part 1 is the English Language paper.

Note:

  • Total time duration of the entire exam is 80 minutes for candidates who are eligible to get assistance from a scribe.
  • There is no provision for re-evaluation in the SSC CHSL Tier-1 examination.
  • There is negative marking. 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Marks scored by candidates in the Tier-1 Computer Based Examination are normalised by using the formula published by the SSC in the notice dated February 7, 2019.

SSC CHSL Tier-2 Subjects and Exam Pattern

  • SSC CHSL Tier-II exam is a descriptive paper of 100 Marks ( ‘Pen and Paper’ Mode)
  • The Paper comprises writing an essay, application, letter, precis etc.
  • The duration of this Paper will be one hour. Candidates who are eligible to get the assistance of a scribe are given an additional time of 20 minutes.
  • The minimum marks to qualify in Tier-II exam is 33 per cent.
  • The paper has to be written either 0 Hindi or in English. Candidates who attempt the descriptive paper partly in English as well as in hindi are awarded zero marks.

SSC CHSL Tier-3 Exam Pattern

  • The Tier-3 exam comprises a skill test or typing test, which is of qualifying nature.
  • It is conducted for the candidates who pass the Tier-2 examination. The Tier-3 skill test is conducted on the computers provided by the SSC or its authorised agency.
  • Tier-3 exam is conducted in the cities where regional offices of SSC exist or as per the decision taken by the SSC.
  • Errors made in the skill test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.
  • The final merit of the shortlisted candidates will be based on the aggregate score obtained in the SSC CHSL Tier – I and Tier – II exams.
