NCERT Full Form
The full form of NCERT is the National Council of Educational Research and Training. NCERT is an autonomous organisation of the Government of India. Established in 1961, NCERT was a literary, scientific and charitable Society under the Societies’ Registration Act. The organisation has its headquarters in New Delhi. All affiliated schools of CBSE follow only the NCERT curriculum. Also, there are many state boards following the NCERT Syllabus as well as the textbooks.

Key Objectives of NCERT
- To promote and conduct educational research.
- To enhance the experimentation of innovative ideas and practice.
- To develop the National Curriculum Framework, syllabi, and textbooks.
- To prepare teaching-learning materials and kits, training models and strategies as well as audio, video, and ICT materials.
- To conduct the training of Pre-service and in-service teacher education along with national and state-level functionaries.
Regional Institutes of Education
Regional Institute of Education, RIE, is a constituent unit of the NCERT. The RIEs, then RCE, was set up by the Government of India in 1963 to cover various regions of the country. There are 5 RIEs in India.
