Total height of a ball, h=h1+h2

Here,

h1=heightofaballwhenitisinhand=0.2mh2=heightofaballafterreleasingitfromhand=2m

Total height attained by a ball,h=0.2+2=2.2m

Let force applied=F

Distance for which force is applied, S=0.2m

Step 2: Calculating the magnitude of force

Now we know that work done by a force is equal to potential energy. Hence,

F.S=mghF=mghSF=0.2×10×2.20.2F=22N
