Solution

The correct option is B

Due to inertia of motion upper part of the body continues to be in motion in forward direction while feet come to rest as soon as they touch the road

Explanation for correct option:

In case of option B,

  1. According to the law of inertia of motion, the body resists any kind of change in the state of its motion.
  2. When a man gets down from a moving bus his body has a speed equal to the speed of the bus and due to this speed, his body continues moving in the direction of the bus.
  3. But once his feet touch the ground, feet come to rest while the upper body part will be carried away under the effect of inertia resulting in a forward fall.

Explanation for incorrect options:

In case of option A,

  1. The inability of a body to change its station of rest by itself is known as the inertia of rest.
  2. Due to inertia of rest, a man sitting on a bus fall backward when the bus starts.
  3. When the bus starts from rest feet move with the bus but due to inertia of rest upper body parts remain in the rest and due to this person falls back.

In case of Option C,

The habit of leaning forward is not relevant to laws of motion.

In case of option D,

Option D will be correct when all three options will be correct. Here only option B is correct and option A and option C are incorrect, thus option D is also incorrect.

Hence, option B is the correct answer.
