Time taken by the particle, t=1a

Step 2. As we know that:

x=Asin(ωt+φ) [ Where, phase constant, φ=0, at mean position, ω is angular velocity, A is amplitude.]

A2=Asin2πTt [T=2πωand displacement equal to half of its amplitude.]

2πTt=sin-112

2πTt=π6

22t=16 T=2sec

t=161a=16t=1a

a=6 .

Hence, the value of ‘a’ to the nearest integer is 6.
