Question

Can Pauli's exclusion principle be violated?

Open in App
Solution

Pauli's exclusion principle:

  1. Pauli's exclusion principle states that no two electrons in an atom can have the same set of four quantum numbers.
  2. This is because only two electrons can occupy an orbital and the two electrons in an orbital have opposite spins.
  3. Hence, Pauli's exclusion principle cannot be violated.
