Cp-Cv=a ……… eq1 [Cp is the specific heat at constant pressure.]

Cp-CV=b ………eq2 [Cv is the specific heat at constant volume']

Step 2. The formula of the specific heat.

Specific heat per unit mass, Mg

Cp-Cv=RMg , [Where, R is the Universal gas constant.]

By comparing this equation to the above equation, we get

For Hydrogen gas, a=R2 …….eq3 [Molar mass of the hydrogen is 2gmmole-1]

For Nitrogen gas, b=R28 …….eq4 [Molar mass of the nitrogen is 28gmmole-1]

Dividing the eq3, and eq4, we get
