The energy that an object has due to its location in a gravitational field is known as gravitational potential energy. When an object is close to the surface of the Earth, when the gravitational acceleration can be assumed to remain constant roughly 9.8m/s2, gravitational potential energy is most frequently used.

The primary force that affects the earth is gravity. The following activities in daily life make use of gravitational energy.

  1. Daily Life Activities:
    Using gravitational force is a part of many everyday activities. Playing, sliding, jumping, sprinting, etc. are a few examples.
  2. Celestial body revolution:
    Each celestial body in space rotates at its own axis and revolves around the sun. The gravitational pull is responsible for the planets' proper rotation and alignment with respect to the sun.
  3. Falling fruit from trees:
    A tree's fruit naturally tends to fall to the ground when it is fully ripe. It's interesting to note that gravity was discovered as a result of this procedure. Sir Isaac Newton was thinking about gravity when he saw an apple fall from a branch. He then wondered whether the moon would also fall if the fruits of the tree were to fall.   4. Falling Things:
    Have you ever wondered why things that fall to the ground land directly on the ground instead of flying in the air? The gravitational force's presence is primarily to blame for this. The gravitational pull of an object is precisely proportional to its mass. It implies that compared to light items, the gravitational attraction on heavier objects will be stronger.
  5. Pouring drinks:
    When drinks are poured into a glass, they do not rise to the brim but rather remain at the base. This is made possible by gravity or the gravitational pull. It is difficult to pour liquids in zero gravity or space since nothing is pulling the molecules toward the bottom of the container.
