Question

Howdoyouaddmagnitudetoavector?

Open in App
Solution

A vector has both magnitude and direction.

Magnitude defines the size of vector and the arrowhead of the vector shows its direction. when we add two vectors.

We add them head to tail, where the order of vectors does not matter.

Suppose, if A and B are two vectors , and their addition is denoted by vector C,

then:A+B=C=B+A

when we add two vectors, we need to add the coefficient

of unit vectors.

for example, adding 3i+5jand2i+4jgives:3i+5j+2i+4j=3+2i+5+4j=5i+9j
