Question

How do you graph parabolas ?

Open in App
Solution

Graphing parabola :

The equation of a parabola is given by:

f(x)=ax2+bx+c

To graph a parabola we need to find the vertex by using the formula,

x=b2a and f(b2a)

Now, start finding the value of f(x) for different values of x.

For eg: the equation of parabola is f(x)=3x2+2x+1
x=-26=-13

f(-13)=3(-13)2+2(-13)+1=13-23+1=23

Now finding the values of f(x) for different values of x.

x011f(x)162

Hence, the graph of parabola f(x) is as follows
