Velocity: The speed with which an object changes its position concerning time and direction is called its velocity. Velocity is a vector quantity. It has both magnitude and direction, which means that direction affects velocity.

Acceleration: The rate at which velocity changes with respect concerning to time is called acceleration.

  1. The rate at which velocity changes is called acceleration. Finding the change in velocity is the first step in calculating acceleration. Subtract an object's initial velocity from its final velocity to determine the change in velocity. The initial velocity, or vi, is the starting velocity.
  2. The object will accelerate if the acceleration and velocity are pointing in the same direction. The object will also slow down if the acceleration is in the opposite direction as the velocity.
  3. The equation a=ΔvΔt denotes acceleration (a), which is the change in velocity (Δv) over the change in time (Δt). This enables you to calculate the change in velocity in meters per second squared m/s2. Since acceleration is a vector quantity, both its magnitude and its direction are included.
