Question

How is cell potential affected by concentration ?

Open in App
Solution

Cell potential affected by concentration in the following ways:

  1. A chemical reaction is affected by three main variables mainly temperature, surface area and concentration.
  2. The potential of the cell helps to evaluate the voltage difference between two half cells.
  3. In an electrochemical cell, the higher concentration allows the increase in voltage difference.
  4. The higher concentration of reactant moves the reaction in the forward direction to react at higher pace, and as a result higher voltage is observed.
