The discharge time of the TV capacitor depends on the type of TV. Some of the capacitors discharge within minutes and few may take hours to discharge. Most of the modern devices have a bleeder resistor connected parallel to the capacitor. The bleeder resistor discharges the capacitor. If the bleeder resistor is unavailable or damaged, an external resistor of suitable resistance can be used to discharge the capacitor.
