Question

How Many Radial Nodes Are Present In 3s Orbital ?

Open in App
Solution

The number of radial nodes in 3s orbital is explained below:

No. of radial nodes =n-l-1

where, n=principal quantum number

l=azimuthal quantum number

  1. For, 3s orbital, n=3l=0
  2. Hence number of radial nodes in 3s orbital =3-0-1=2

Therefore, the number of radial nodes in 3s orbital is 2.
