A combination of two or more different elements or compounds is called a Mixture.

There are two types of mixtures: Heterogeneous and Homogeneous.

  • Heterogeneous Mixture
  1. The composition is not uniform throughout the mixture.
  2. It is a non-uniform mixture of small constituent parts.
  3. An example of a Heterogeneous mixture is smog, soup, rocks in the sand, muddy water etc.
  • Homogeneous Mixture
  1. It is a type of mixture in which the components are uniformly distributed.
  2. The component involved in the homogeneous mixture can't be detected or observed separately.
  3. An example of a Homogeneous mixture is Salt and Water, Alloys like Brass, etc.
