Solution

The correct option is B

[ML-1T0]

Step 1: Given information

As given force is proportional to the square of the velocity

FV2

Now, F=kV2 , where k is the proportional constant

Step 2: Find the dimension of Force

Force=Mass×Acceleration . . . . (1)

∴Acceleration=Velocity×[Time]–1

=[LT1]×[T]1=[LT2]...(2)

Where, M = Mass, L = Length, and T = Time

Substituting equation (2) in equation (1) we get,
Force=m×a=[M]×[L1T2]=[M1L1T2]
Therefore, force is dimensionally represented as [M1L1T2]

Step 3: Find the dimension of Velocity

∴Velocity=DistanceTime=[L][T]=[LT1]

V=[LT-1]

Step 4: Put the dimension of Velocity and Force in F=kV2

Therefore,[MLT2]=k[LT1]

k=[MLT2][LT1]2=[MLT2][L2T2]=[ML1L2T2T2]=[ML-1T0]

k=[ML-1T0]

Hence, the correct option is (B).
