Question

Is JCm unit of electric field?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given

Unit of Electric field = JCm

Step 2: Formula

An electric field's force and potential energy are divided by the charge and thus measured NC.

Since,

E=Vr, Where, E=Electric field, V=Electric potential & r=Radius

Step 3: Calculation

S.I.unitofE=S.I.unitofVS.I.unitofr,

S.I.unitofE=voltmeter

(E)=Vm, Where, E(Energy)=q(Charge)×V(potentialdifference)

Hence unit of the electric field is Vm

Hence, JCm is not the unit of the electric field.
