Question

Is power the same in series and parallel?

Open in App
Solution

Series

A series of similar things or occurrences occurring in spatial or temporal succession, such as a concert series; the hall was divided into several separate rooms.

Parallel

Parallel occurrences or situations occur at the same time or are comparable to each other. For example, parallel negotiations between the foreign ministers of the two countries. Their instincts aren't always in sync with our own.

  1. All components of a parallel circuit are linked across each other, resulting in two sets of electrically common points.
  2. The sum of the power dissipated by the individual resistors determines the total power in a series circuit.
  3. The formula for total power (PT) is:PT=P1+P2+P3...
  4. At the same voltage, the power dissipated by parallel-connected resistors is more than that of series-connected resistors.
