Find the length of the line segment joining the given points

Points given, 5,-1,4 and 4,-1,3

The direction ratios of line AB are 5-4,-1+1,4-3

Hence the direction ratios of AB are (1,0,1)

Let the angle between AB and normal to the plane be θ

cosθ=1×1+1×0+1×112+02+1212+12+12

∴ cosθ=23

∴ sinθ=1-cos2θ

∴ sinθ=1-23=13

AB=5-42+(-1+1)2+4-32

∴AB=2

Projection of AB on the plane is given by ABsinθ

=2×13

=23

So, the projection of AB on the plane x+y+z=7 is 23

Hence, option (B) 23, is the correct answer.
