Proteins:

• Large molecules known as proteins are made up of the building blocks known as amino acids.
• Amino acids also contain nitrogen in addition to carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
• Alpha-amino acids are the compounds in which $\mathrm{COOH}$ group is attached along with the ${\mathrm{NH}}_2$ group at the alpha position.
• One or more twisted and folded strands of amino acids combine to produce enormous, complex structures known as protein molecules.
• The most fundamental and significant parts of life actively involve proteins, which are extremely complex molecules.
• These include molecular recognition, cellular communication, mobility, defence, and metabolism.
