Question

What are the three states of equillibrium?

Open in App
Solution

Equilibrium:

  • A process is in equilibrium when the observable properties, such as colour, temperature, pressure, concentration, etc., do not change.
  • Equilibrium, which literally means "balance," denotes that the reactants and products involved in a chemical process are in balance with one another.
  • In some physical processes, such as the melting of ice at 0°C, where both ice and water are present at equilibrium, the equilibrium state can also be observed.

States of Equilibrium:

  • Stable Equilibrium
  • Unstable Equilibrium
  • Neutral Equilibrium
