Resistance:

  1. Resistance is a force, or the vector sum of several forces, that acts in the opposing direction to a body's motion.
  2. Electrical Resistance is a measure of the opposition to current flow in an electrical circuit.
  3. To convert electrical energy to light, heat, or movement, an electrical circuit must have resistance.
  4. Resistance is an inherent obstacle to electron flow in conductors.

Types of resistance:

Four main types of resistance forces are,

Friction:

  1. Friction is the force that prevents solid surfaces, fluid layers, and material components from sliding against each other.
  2. Frictional forces, such as the traction required to walk without slipping, can be useful, but they can provide a significant amount of resistance to motion.

Gravity:

  1. Gravity is a fundamental interaction in physics that produces mutual attraction between all entities that have mass or energy.
  2. Gravity is the force that pulls items toward the centre of a planet or other entity. The gravitational pull keeps all of the planets in orbit around the sun.

Air Resistance.:

  1. When an item travels through air, it creates a force called air resistance.
  2. This force acts in the inverse direction of a body moving through air.
  3. The frictional force of air resistance acts on the moving body. When a body moves, air resistance slows it down.

Objects with inertia, mass and momentum:

  1. Inertia is the quality of an item that causes it to resist changes in its state of rest or motion.
  2. Momentum is the product of mass and velocity, or the amount of motion that an object with mass has.
  3. Both of these words are connected to an object's rest mass or rest energy.
