Ionic compound:

1. An ionic compound is made of ions, charged particles formed when an atom or group of atoms acquire or lose electrons.
2. Ionic compounds form by two ways:
   $\mathrm{Metal}+\mathrm{Nonmetal}\to \mathrm{Ionic}\mathrm{compound}$
   $\mathrm{Metal}+\mathrm{Polyatomic}\mathrm{ion}\to \mathrm{Ionic}\mathrm{compound}$

Types of ionic compounds:

1. Sodium chloride: It is an ionic compound with the chemical formula of $\mathrm{NaCl}$ and it is mostly used as an ordinary table salt. It is formed by Sodium metal cation (${\mathrm{Na}}^{+}$) and Chloride nonmetal anion (${\mathrm{Cl}}^{-}$).
2. Potassium phosphate: It is an inorganic chemical with the molecular formula of ${\mathrm{K}}_3{\mathrm{PO}}_4$ and it used as a food additives. It is formed by Potassium metal cation (${\mathrm{K}}^{+}$) and Phosphate nonmetal anion (${\mathrm{PO}}_4^{3-}$).
3. Magnesium sulfate: It is also an inorganic compound with a molecular formula of ${\mathrm{MgSO}}_4$ and it is added to purified water. It is formed by Magnesium metal cation (${\mathrm{Mg}}^{2+}$) and Sulphate nonmetal anion (${\mathrm{SO}}_4^{2-}$).
