Types of Arithmetic Progressions
Arithmetics progression is a series of numbers in which the difference between the consecutive terms is equal.
There are two types of Arithmetic progressions:
- Finite Arithmetic Progression: The finite arithmetic progression is a series with a finite number of terms. The first term, last term, common difference, and the number of terms can be identified from the series.
For example: is a finite series with the first term , common difference , number of terms , and the last term
- Infinite Arithmetic Progression: The infinite arithmetic progression is a series with an infinite number of terms. The first term and the common difference can be identified. But the number of terms and the last term are unknown. Any term in the series can be calculated by the formula , where is the first term, is the common difference, is the position of the term, is the term.
For example, is a finite series with the first term , common difference .
