Open in App
Solution

Permeability coefficient:

  1. It is a measure(quantitative) of the rate at which a molecule can cross a membrane(e.g. a lipid bilayer) & is expressed in cm/s.
  2. It is equal to the diffusion coefficient divided by the width of the membrane.
  3. Factors affecting permeability coefficient - properties of pore water, particle size, etc.
  4. High permeability coefficient means quick and easy movement of a molecule across the membrane.
