  1. Vapour pressure is the pressure exerted by the vapour at a given temperature in a closed system.
  2. Vapour pressure is inversely proportional to the temperature.
  3. When vapour pressure is equal to the atmospheric pressure, the liquid starts to boil. This phenomenon is called boiling.
  4. When the vapour pressure exceeds the atmospheric pressure, the liquid starts boiling at a high temperature and changes into the gaseous state.
  5. Therefore, when the vapour pressure is greater than atmospheric pressure the liquid evaporates.
