Question

What is delta S and delta H?

Open in App
Solution

Delta S

  1. Delta S S is denoted as the entropy change.
  1. Entropy is a measure of the degree of randomness or the degree of disorder in a given system.
  2. Therefore, if in a system after a certain period the entropy increase S will be positive.
  3. However, if the entropy of a system decreases after a period of time , the value of S becomes negative.

Delta H

  1. Delta H H used to denote the enthalpy change.
  2. Enthalpy is a measure of the total amount of energy bound by a system.
  3. If the H is positive, then the total amount of energy bound by a system have increased.
  4. Whereas if H is negative, the net energy bound by the system have decreased.
