Open in App
Solution

Escape Velocity Formula
  1. The minimum velocity with which an object can escape the gravitational pull of the planet is called Escape velocity.
  2. In case of earth, escape velocity is the minimum velocity required by a body to be projected to overcome the gravitational pull of the earth.
  3. Escape velocity can be written as, vesc=2GMR
Where, M mass of the planet, R is radius of the planet and G is the gravitational constant
  4. The expression for escape velocity is ve=2gR
where, g is acceleration due to gravity of the planet and R is radius of the planet
  5. The Escape velocity is different for different planets.
  6. The escape velocity of earth is 11.2km/s.
