  1. Polymers are macromolecules made up of several small units (monomers). This process of making a polymer is known as polymerization.
  2. Many monomer units make a polymer.
  3. Examples of polymers are proteins the polymers of amino acids, cellulose the polymers of carbohydrates, and DNA the polymers of nucleotides.
  4. There are many synthetic polymers which are used in daily life.
  5. Nylons are polymers of polyamides., Teflon is polymer of Tetrafluoro ethylene, bakelite is polymer of Phenol and Aldehydes.
  6. Bakelite is a cross-linked polymer made up of formaldehyde and phenol use in manufacture of sockets of electricity and in many electrical systems other than conducting units.
