The temperature coefficient of resistance is the calculation of a relative change of electrical resistance of a substance per degree of temperature change.

  1. It is denoted by the Greek word α(alpha).
  2. The formula for Temperature coefficient of resistance:

R=Rref(1+α(T−Tref))α=R-RrefRrefT-Tref

Where
R= The resistance of the conductor(that is nickel here) at a temperature 0°C
Rref= The reference resistance at temperature Tref
α= The temperature coefficient of resistance for the material.
T= The material temperature in ∘celsius=0°C
Tref=The reference temperature for which the temperature coefficient is specified.

Here, the resistance temperature coefficient of nickel is based on the reference temperature of 20°C is 59x10-4°C-1.
