  • The metals that are commonly used as semiconductors are Gallium arsenide (GaAs), Germanium (Ge), and Silicon (Si).

Uses:

  • Silicon is used in electronic circuit fabrication, manufacture of transistors, solar energy devices etc.
  • Gallium arsenide is used in solar cells, laser diodes, and in integrated circuits.
  • Germanium is used to manufacture rectifiers and transistors and is used as a fluorescent material.
