Question

What should be the total vertical force in system when body is in equilibrium?

Open in App
Solution

  1. When the body is in equilibrium, the net force acting on it in all directions is zero (that is, the forces in the Y direction balance themselves).
  2. Thus, we can say that if we add all forces together as vectors, the force will be 0Newton.
  3. So, in other words, the sum of all forces acting on it must be zero for a body to be in equilibrium.
