Question

What type of force will produce oscillation?

Open in App
Solution

  1. In general, a periodic force acting on an object can produce oscillatory motion.
  2. This type of motion is known as forced oscillation.
  3. Another way of producing oscillation would be to push or pull an object which is at a stable equilibrium.
  4. In suitable conditions (without any resistivity forces), the object will oscillate about its equilibrium point.
  5. This type of motion is also known as simple harmonic motion.
