Question

Which instrument is used to measure the electric potential difference?

Open in App
Solution

  1. If a test charge is moved from one point to another in an electric field, then the work done is known as the electric potential difference between the two points.
  2. The primary instrument to measure potential difference is the voltmeter. The voltmeter is connected in parallel with the two points in which we are interested to measure the potential difference.

Here V is the voltmeter and it measures the potential difference between points A and B.

Hence voltmeter is used to measure the potential difference between two points.
