Question

Which promoter is used in Haber's process?

Open in App
Solution

Haber's process:

  • Industrial manufacturing of ammonia NH3 is done through Haber's process.
  • In this process, Nitrogen(N2) and Hydrogen H2are taken in a ratio of 1:3.
  • Then under high pressure of 200atm and low temperature of 400Kthe reaction yields Ammonia.
  • The promoter that we use here is “Molybdenum”, as it increases the efficiency of the catalyst Iron and resulting in a higher ammonia yield.

Liquid Ammonia is obtained through this process.

N2(aq)+3H2(aq)2NH3(aq)
