Who proposed atomic theory?

  1. The idea of matter is made up of indivisible particles termed as atomos was given by the Greek Philosopher, Democritus in 450 BC.
  2. Later on, John Dalton, in 19th century revived the thought and and proposed the actual and useful theory after performing different experiments which gave the proof for the existence of atoms.
  3. According to Dalton's atomic theory, atoms get rearranged to form products .Also the smallest particle comprises the reaction is atoms.
  4. The postulates if Dalton's Atomic theory are- Every matter is made up of matter, atoms are indivisible , specific elements have only one type of atoms in them, Atoms can neither be created nor be destroyed but can only transformed from one form to another.
  5. Some demerits of this theory were unable to explain the existence of isotopes, not explain anything about the structure of atom.
