  3. Chlorophyll plays a vital role in trapping light energy during photosynthesis.
  4. Chloroplasts are located in the parenchyma cells of the mesophyll region of the leaves.
  5. They have an outer and inner membrane enveloping the intermembrane space. The inner membrane separates ‘stroma’ from the intermembrane space.
  6. The presence of a double-membrane helps in creating a concentration gradient and controls the flow of substances across it.
