Flatworms:

  1. Flatworms are bilaterally symmetrical, acoelomate animals that belong to the phylum Platyhelminthes.
  2. If a developing embryo has two germ layers (ectoderm and endoderm), the animal is called diploblastic.
  3. Flatworms are not diploblastic. They are triploblastic animals.
  4. During development, they show the presence of three germ layers namely ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. All tissues are derived from these layers.
  5. Examples- tapeworm, flukes, planaria, etc.
