2. The DNA molecule is wrapped around the histone octamer, resulting in the formation of a structure called ‘nucleosome’.
3. Histone proteins provide the chromosomes with their shape and control gene activity.
4. Bacteria are prokaryotes. They are unicellular organisms that lack a true nucleus and membrane-bound cell organelles.
5. Histones are not present in bacteria. However, Archaea possess histones except in Crenarchaeota.
