Lycophytes:

  1. They are a spore-bearing vascular plant subgroup under the Kingdom Plantae.
  2. They are considered a primitive group of plants and are also known as “fern allies" with unique leaves.
  3. Examples- Selaginella, Sigillaria, etc.
  4. Lycophytes still exist. Although most of their species are extinct now, there are around 1,290 to 1,340 known living species of Lycophytes.
  5. They can be found everywhere on Earth except Antarctica.
