Solution

Cytoskeleton:

  1. It is a network of fibres that provides mechanical strength to the cells.
  2. It helps in cell signalling, transport of molecules, cell division, etc.
  3. It comprises microfilaments, intermediate tubules, and microtubules.

Microfilaments:

  1. They are protein filaments that are present in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells.
  2. They are also known as actin filaments made of polymerization of actin molecules.
  3. Endocytosis, exocytosis, cell membrane motility, secretion and vesicle transfer are a few functions of microfilaments.
