Macronutrients:

  1. Nutrients that provide energy and are required in large quantities.
  2. They are required to maintain important bodily functions.
  3. Example- Fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.

Micronutrients:

  1. As the name suggests, they are nutrients that are needed in micro quantities.
  2. They play a pivotal role in the metabolic activities of the body
  3. Examples of vitamins- C, D, A, B, etc.
  4. Examples of minerals are iron, copper, manganese, zinc, etc.
  5. Both macro & micro-nutrients are equally important. None is lesser than the other. The only difference lies in the quantity they are needed.
