  1. The coelom is a cavity present between the digestive tract & the outer body wall.
  2. Organisms with a fluid-filled cavity in their bodies or coelom are called coelomates.
  3. Example- Annelids, Molluscs, Arthropods, etc.

Acoelomates:

  1. Organisms without a fluid-filled cavity (coelom) in their bodies.
  2. Example- invertebrates like Planarians, tapeworms, & flukes.
  3. Porifera & Cnidaria are acoelomates.
  4. Examples of Porifera- Glass Sponges, Demospongiae, etc.
  5. Examples of Cnidaria-Corals, hydra, jellyfish, etc
