Are purple carrots GMO?

Solution

GMOs :

  1. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can be defined as organisms (i.e. plants, animals, or microorganisms) in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination.
  2. Red and purple carrots are considered the eastern varieties.
  3. As they are wild and their DNA is not altered, they are not considered GMOs.
  4. Thus, purple carrots are not GMO.
