Open in App
Solution

Algae:

  1. Algae is a group of eukaryotic photosynthetic organisms.
  2. Not all types of algae are harmful but some algal blooms can kill fish by producing toxins.
  3. The high content of algae, adequate amount of nutrients, and sunlight can cause algal overgrowth which is called an algal bloom.
  4. Some blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can cause illness in fish, livestock, and wildlife.
  5. They deplete dissolved oxygen in water quickly as they are over-populated so fishes will die due to suffocation.
  6. So, algae can kill fish in a pond.
