Can you give an example of catabolism?

Solution
Catabolism:
Metabolism are of two types- catabolism and anabolism.
Catabolism is when large complex nutrient molecules are broken down in the body to produce simple, smaller molecules.
Example:
An example of catabolism is glycolysis.
In this process, glucose is broken down by a series of enzyme-catalysed reactions to pyruvate and energy (ATP).
Pyruvate is then converted to acetyl-CoA.
The citric acid cycle is also a catabolic process in which this acetyl-CoA is finally converted to two molecules each of CO

and water.
