Question

Do Fungi have circular chromosomes?

Open in App
Solution

Chromosomes:

The thread-like structure known as chromosomes is found in the nucleus of both plant and animal cells. The mechanism for transporting DNA is the chromosome.

  1. The majority of fungi are decomposers that obtain nutrients from dead or decomposing organic materials (usually plants).
  2. Fungi are eukaryotes and have linear chromosomes. Eukaryotes include animals, plants, and fungi.
  3. Their nucleus is membrane-bound, and their chromosomes are linear rather than circular.
  4. The DNA in the nucleus' linear chromosomes is tightly coiled and wrapped around proteins known as histones.

Fungi do not have circular chromosomes.
