Do humans have a coelom?

Open in App
Solution

Coelom:

  1. The coelom is the fluid-filled body cavity present between the alimentary canal and the body wall.
  2. The coelom is lined by mesoderm on both the sides, towards the body wall and towards the gut.
  3. Humans have a coelom and are known to be eucoelomates (Animals that have a true coelom).
  4. It is a cavity not found in the human adult and is found in embryonal stages which divides to other cavities.
  5. The blastocoel present in the gastrula gets completely replaced by a true coelom. The body organs are suspended in the coelom by mesenteries.
